2004年12月から始まったXM Satellite Radio (*) の音楽プログラム。週1回1時間の番組では、リラックスした調子のTPがホストを務め、自ら選曲したお気に入りの曲をリスナーに紹介していきます。好評のうちに（？）シーズンを重ね、2011年3月から第6シーズンに突入。

デジタル衛星回線を用いたラジオ局。現時点でのサービスはアメリカ国内のみ。専用ラジオを入手して受信料(毎月$9.99)を払うと、100局以上のラジオ放送がコマーシャルなしで楽しめる。細かいジャンル分けがされたエアプレイだけでなく、視聴者のみの特別番組まである。同様のサービスを提供する会社としては、Sirius Satellite Radioがある。　　（info from Shigeyan, 2005）

TPはこのプログラムについて、以下のように語っています
TP： XMサテライト・チャンネルのラジオ・ショウのシリーズをやってるんだ。「Tom Petty's Buried Treasures」っていうタイトルでさ。自分がまとめた1時間の音楽番組なんだ。
殆どが昔の音楽さ。そういう音楽を聴いたことがない、特に若い人たちが、そういう音楽に耳を向けてくれれば…。とにかく、番組をやるのが楽しいんだ。
Q： XMラジオは良い曲をまとめて聴けるから、いいですよね。
TP： 最高だよ。音もすごく良いしね。選択肢がより多くなるんだったら、全ての選択肢があるのが良いよね(笑)。この前、砂漠へ旅行して、車の中に4時間程いたんだけど、その間、CDをかけることもなく、（XMラジオで）ずっと楽しんでいたよ。チャンネルを替えて聴いてるだけでさ。とにかく素晴らしいよ。ラジオにも、あんな風にドキドキさせるものが必要だな。すごく興奮するよ。

1stシーズンと 2ndシーズンの内容をまとめてみました
＜1st Season＞
20回で放送されたのは延べ408曲、1回平均20曲です。最多登場アーチストはJames Brown (延べ12回)。続いて、The BeatlesとJ.J. Cale (10回)。プレイ・リストを見ると、TPの嗜好を反映しているようで、ブルース・ソウル系アーチストが目立ちます。他にも、TPが子供の頃聴いていたのかな？というアーチストが多数登場します。ただ、そこはTPならではの選曲、決してストレートではありません。いわゆるヒット曲は避け、それぞれのアーチストのあまり有名ではない曲が多いように思います。
今回、Traveling Wilburysが3曲ありましたが、TP&HBおよびTP自身の曲はありませんでした。また、80年代以降の曲もほとんどありません。最近のものでは、The White Stripes （TPもお気に入りと名前を挙げている）が唯一の例外でしょうか。また、膨大なリストを眺めて女性アーチストの曲が意外と少ないようにも感じました。複数回登場したのは、Ann Peebles、Lucinda Williams、The Shangri-Las くらいでした。意外と硬派な選曲です(笑)。やはり、ロックンロール少年だったTPは、R&R〜R&Bばかり聴いてたのでしょうね。
20回のプログラムでもっともオンエアされた曲は、The Quikの"Bert's Apple Crumble"（インスト曲）。1回目の放送で取り上げた後、7回目からは毎回番組の最後の曲として登場しています。断トツの15回ですが、これは番組のクロージング・テーマとして流していたのでしょう。

＜2nd Season＞
選曲は、1stシーズン以上にヴァラエティに富んだ内容になっていますが、何といってもRolling Stonesが断トツで目を引きます。24曲というと、ほぼ毎回登場したことになります。他にも、Who、Beatles、Animals、The Band、Beach BoysなどのR&R（ロック）グループ系が多かったようです。1stシーズンに目立ったソウル・ブルース系は Fats Domino、Chuck Berry、Bo Diddley、Sam & Daveなど（前回よりは少し減少気味）。女性アーチストは今回も少なく、5曲以上はありませんでした。何はともあれ、TPの趣味趣向がわかって、本当に興味深いです。
